Sierra Medical International, Inc. (SMI) is a medical device development company headquartered in Irvine, California. SMI’s primary mission is to develop innovative new medical devices that address major health challenges in large markets with creative solutions that enhance patient care and provide cost-efficiencies.  Within our group we have the experience-based expertise to take products from the lab, through development to clinical trials, regulatory approval, reimbursement qualification on to full worldwide commercialization.

Our technology development strategy sometimes includes the purchase or licensing of existing technology, at other times we develop technology entirely in-house.  Our team includes experts in patent evaluation, licensing, and patent prosecution.

We have a close strategic alliance with a large and well respected Chinese medical device company which provides us with access to capital, cost-effective high-quality manufacturing, clinical trial management, as well as a highly developed distribution channel to allow us to quickly and effectively reach the fastest growing (and soon; largest) medical device market in the world. 

The management team of Sierra Medical International is composed of highly experienced medical device industry veterans with expertise in; engineering and product development, startup management and financing, technology evaluation, business development, sales & marketing and intellectual property evaluation & management among other disciplines.  The senior management team of Sierra Medical International have extensive experience in successfully bringing novel medical technologies from concept to commercialization and have launched a number of successful companies as well as contributing to various early stage companies.

In addition to our core mission of developing and commercializing innovative medical technologies, we also leverage our close relationship with one of China’s premier medical device companies by introducing selected American medical device companies to our Chinese partners when we see a uniquely synergistic fit.
